Samson replied, “If you were to weave the seven braids of my hair into the fabric on your loom and tighten it with the loom shuttle, I would become as weak as anyone else.” Judges 6, 13b NLT
The Holy Spirit is admonishing me to warn someone of the danger of your weakest link. Please let this piece of article touch your heart, your soul and your spirit. Let it also lead you to the prescribed action.
The Holy Spirit played over to me the life journey of Samson in my heart, how He prepared him from heaven, dropped him in his mother’s womb, how He empowered him and anointed him and how Samson failed miserably because of his weakest link: excessive lust for women.
You know most times we preach and teach with this bible character while we are all victims of our weakest points.
The phrase is there in different versions:
“The strength of a chain is dependent on its weakest link.” Another version says “The Chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” Yet another personalized version says “You are ONLY as STRONG as your WEAKEST link!”
It just flashed in my mind how real and factual it is when we look at it from our health point of view. Imagine someone very strong, 6 ft tall , popular, famous, rich, looking healthy and handsome, a father, holding a high position in government and he catches coronavirus, and in fews days he is dead. Imagine a beautiful woman, radiant, charismatic, charming, extremely intelligent with high profile personality in the society and before you know it she is attacked by cancer in the pancreas and in a few weeks she is dead!
Let us not even go that far, imagine you having just a problem with just one tooth and you are totally shut down, you can’t eat, you can’t talk, you can’t go to work. Just one little whitlow on the smallest finger and the whole body is shut down!
The Holy Spirit wants you and I to extend the weakest link theory to our spiritual lives. One little anger causes a 30 year marriage crashing down. One night fling puts an end to twenty years of marriage. One time plagiarism terminates a six year course in an Ivy League institution. One night stand with a choir member destroys a glorious televangelist with a thriving ministry. Jesus calls it the little foxes that spoils the vine .
What the Holy Spirt want you to do today is to find the weakest link in your life and manage it before it destroys you. The weakest link is a destiny destroyer. A life terminator. It was about to destroy the ministry of Paul, but that man knew how to handle the weakest link. This is what he did:
“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong” 2 Cor 12:7-10.
Weakest link varies from individual to individual and how we react or respond to it also varies. We all have our weakest links, no one is exempt, covering it does not deny it. That it has not destroyed you does not diminish the potency. What is important is identifying it and dealing with it. Samson was braggadocio about his weakness, his parents did their best to warn him about running after Philistine women but he did not listen until he was consumed. Eyes plucked out, rendered blind and made to grind stone. On the other hand what would probably have destroyed Paul another highly anointed man became his strongest point and made him an expert in role modelling and weakest link management. Take this little advice and guidance from the Holy Spirit:
*If your weakest link is unbelief in Jesus find Eph 2:8-10. He is your saviour.
* If your weakest link is depression, then Psalm 40 and Psalm 42 will definitely help you.
* If your weakest link is materialism, corruption and greed for worldly things, then you’ve got 1 Timothy 6.
* If your weakest link is anger or swearing with a foul mouth, bad temper and an angry spirit, then you have Ephesians 4.
* If your weakest link is lust, adultery, fornication, pornography or an immoral thought life, then you’ve got Ephesians 5 to help you.
* If your weakest link is alcoholism , cocaine, hard drugs, marijuana, Proverbs 8 & 20 will help you.
*
Conclusion: Identify your weakest link today. Take counsel from those who are close to you. Weakest links are dangerous and deadly links, however they could be managed. The Holy Spirit is called an Helper for a reason. The Holy Spirit helped Paul, the Holy Spirt is available where you are, go on your knees right now and let the Holy Spirit help you before it is too late! Turn your weakest link to your greatest link.
Shalom
