Two Islamic clerics kidnapped in Ogun, N15 million ransom demanded

Some gang of kidnappers have made away with two Islamic clerics in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The kidnappers had stormed the residence of their victims, ate some eba with the pieces of meat in their pot before taking them away.

It was gathered that the incident happened around 10pm on Saturday when the duo, Hussein AbdulJelil and his friend, Ilyas Muhammed Jamiu returned from a public lecture.

The elder brother of one of the victims, Hussein Ibrahim, confirmed to newsmen on Monday that the kidnappers seized the phones of everybody in the building, even as they took their time to carry out the operation “after eating Eba and all the meat in the pot.”

“The kidnappers were five and when they came, they were hidden somewhere in the dark and were able to capture them immediately. The kidnappers were armed with dangerous weapons,” Ibrahim said.

He disclosed that the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded N15 million as ransom for the release of the abductees.

Contacted, the Ogun police spokesman, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident, saying the police and other security agencies including the local hunters have launched a search party for the clerics.

“Yes, we are aware (of the kidnapping incident). Our men have been there with others including local hunters combing the bush.

“We will get them. We have got others in Ijebu-Ode and other areas in the state. We will get them and deal with them,” Oyeyemi assured.
