It is with great delight that I welcome you to the month of June, our month of prosperity and financial dominion. “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” Rev 5:5.
My prayer for you is that Jesus will show up for you and help you on your journey to prosperity and financial dominion. As you advance in this month you will walk in covenant with God, do your own due diligence and heaven will keep His covenant. You will use your spiritual gifts and talents to create your own financial fortune. You will discover by revelation and study what you will do that will cause you to prosper. From this day you will not beg for bread, your seed will bring forth great harvest, devourer will not know your name. No longer lack. No more poverty. No more failure. No more weeping. The seal of the enemy over you is removed in Jesus’ name. Go and prosper! Go and do well. Sing a new song of joy.
What is Prosperity and Financial Dominion?
Prosperity means freedom from poverty, lack and the negative effects that come with them. (Fear, insecurity, greed, self-centredness, etc.) Financial dominion means having abundant financial supplies, replenishment to multiply and sustain its availability. It means financial freedom and being a blessing to your generation. Financial dominion anchors on the covenant of seedtime and harvest. Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remaeth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” “Seedtime” and “harvest” means giving and receiving, which provides the gateway to financial dominion. Bishop Oyedepo says “Our giving is a spiritual transaction for provoking all-round favour” (Genesis 22:15-22; 2 Samuel 24:24-25; 2 Corinthians 9:6-11).
Areas of Prosperity
Contrary to those trumpeting prosperity as being about finances alone, it involves generally 5 areas
1. Spiritual prosperity. Your eternal salvation. Your relationship with Jesus Christ
2. Mental prosperity. Your wellness. The state of your mental productivity. Academic stability
3. Your health. Bodily prosperity. Good health.
4. Financial prosperity. The subject of abundance. Freedom from financial strangulation.
5. Relational prosperity. Connectivity with the right people. Relating well to humanity.
What is poverty?
Poverty: Poverty is a perpetual state of lack and insufficiency of financial resources often characterized by lack of productivity. According to the World Bank Organization: “Poverty is hunger. Poverty is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a doctor. Poverty is not having access to school and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job, it is fear for the future, living one day at a time.” In Canada for instance poverty refers to the intersection of low income and other dimensions of 'social exclusion', including things such as access to adequate housing, essential goods and services, health and well-being and community participation. Many years ago, my Travel Agent told me the area I live is classified as ‘poor people, low-income earners region’
Does God want you to prosper?
God want’s you and I to prosper. From Genesis to Revelation God show cases and trumpeted how he made his people rich. Check out The Patriarchs of faith, they were very rich. “Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.” Gen 13:2 “When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. 13 He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow” Gen 26:12-13 “Jacob became exceedingly prosperous and had male and female servants, large flocks, camels and donkeys” (Gen 30:43)
Jeremiah said “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jer 29:11
Paul says “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.” 2 Cor 8:9
John said” Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.” 3 Jn 1:2
If God wants us to be prosperous and yet we are poor, why?
1. There are ways for doing things for anyone to be successful. It means we are yet to find the ways. Jesus says search the scriptures. Jn 5:39. Meaning find genuine ways to be rich. Part of ways to get out of poverty is you reading this piece or listening to it.
2. They are poor because they have not decided to be wealthy. That you are a Christian does not automatically translate to prosperity. That you are born in Canada or London, or America does not make you wealthy. There are poor people in the streets and shelters of those cities and nations. You will remain poor in those nations thinking you are enjoying welfare!
2. They do not have a goal to be wealthy: You may choose not to be wealthy.
3. Many are poor because of lack of financial education. They lack the understanding of the real formula for wealth and prosperity. There is formula for wearing a watch. Wearing a trouser, for giving birth. Walking is predictable because it has a formula. There is a formula that is beyond race, gender, culture, background, educational qualifications that governs the world process. If you don’t know the formula that governs wealth you will remain poor.
4. Lack of mental transition from realm of poverty to wealth. They are hoping spirituality will automatically transform to wealth. Every time the law around an issue is unknown the result is mysticism
5. People face obstacles. Spiritual obstacles, physical (health challenges) mental, psychological, family, environmental, challenges, national challenges (lack of infrastructure from the relevant governments)
Myths and mindsets that keep people poor.
1. Money and abundance are carnal, of the flesh, evil. 1 Tim 6:10. The love of money. The bible never says money is evil.
2. If God wants me rich, he will make me rich. Psalm 84:11. If I am not rich, it is because God does not want me to be rich. “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
3. Tithing and giving is the one and only key to abundance and prosperity. It’s a deception. Mal 3:10. God did not promise to pour money to you. He said Blessing. Tithing helps you to get heavens attention. Tithing is part of the engagement for financial prosperity following the law of sowing and reaping.
4. If I can just have a business idea and star-up capital, I will be rich. The same mindset makes someone feel that if he can just get a job, he will be rich. Some people, even top managers - If not paid salaries for four months will be in trouble. They say experience is the best teacher, but it doesn’t have to be your experience.
5. Entitlement mentality. The feeling that someone somewhere is responsible for your success and prosperity. My parents should take care of me. My uncle should give me money. If they failed God will punish them. Your uncle is the Director in NNPC, he refused to give you a job in NNPC. Some people hate or resent wealthy people.
What does God say about the love of money?
3 things God warns us about prosperity- Making money
1. The love of money. Is root of all evils. Don’t live your life pursuing money at the expense of your soul. 1 Timothy 6:9-11, NKJV
2. Watch the way you make money- Don’t be a victim of get rich quick syndrome. Falsify books, steal, swindle people, rituals. Prov 14:12, 20:21 Jer 17: 11,
3. Don’t be lazy. Don’t be idle and expect prosperity- Prov 15:19,28:19 1 Timothy 6:9-11, NKJV “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” “Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.” Eccl 11:6 NLT
There are two broadways to prosper God’s way.
1.Have a covenant with God. Know God and put your trust in Him. Matthew 6:33 NLT – “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” 1 Pet 2:9 We can rest assured that God is going to take care of us as we follow His Word.
2.Do The Necessary. “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Eccl 11:6
God's method for biblical prosperity requires that we use our spiritual endowments, gifts and talents to generate blessing and be willing both to GIVE and RECEIVE. Giving, without receiving, results in our having less. Receiving, without giving, is the root of the world's system of greed. Giving AND receiving must go together for true prosperity to take place. Whatever you have, you received.
How To be/Remain Poor
1. Do not Believe in God or put your trust in him. You must be born again and make a covenant with God.
2.Don’t do the necessary. Refuse to walk in the covenant. Do Nothing. “ Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,8 Provides her meat in the summer, and gathered her food in the harvest.9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.” Pro 6:6-11
Don’t do any work. Don’t go to church, stay on welfare, don’t pay your tithe, criticize those who are doing it. Don’t read your bible, don’t attend Bible study, don’t pray, don’t go to school, it is too costly, have business idea, but don’t start it. Such a person will die wretched. Don’t be creative or innovative. Join complainant, murmurer and gossippers club in your church and society.
How To Prosper- Necessary habits.
Obedience. Most challenges in life including the issue of prosperity are solved by knowing what to do and doing it. God guides his children in best ways. “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 1-3. “All these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.” Deut 28:2. God is too BIG to promise and not deliver. He is a covenant keeping God. If He tells you to do something, do it quickly, thoroughly, in faith, and watch the result upload. The problem is that we read Deut 28 :1-14, we refuse to read Deut 28 15-68 and think what is written there will not happen because we don’t read it! If you are a medical doctor and God tells you to go and be producing “pure or bottled water” just obey him. Saul the king went from grace to disgrace, prosperity to madness and suicide, (1Sam 14-15,31) because he failed to obey God. On the other hand, Isaac went from zero to hero; poverty to prosperity because of obedience (Gen 26). Do not go to church, hear sermons and fail to do what God commands. Make use of all the seminars workshops and conferences you attend on financial matters. From this day “try and listen to God and obey his instructions” it’s a matter of time, in all areas of your life you shall give testimonies of prosperity. I am a living witness.
Good heart –Be hospitable. The money you need is in another man’s pocket or bank. The blessing you need is in the mouth of a prophet. The breakthrough and promotion you need is locked up within someone’s power and authority. What will unlock it is your good heart and hospitality. The widow of Zarephath would have died after eating a meal with her son. But she chose to sow it to Prophet Elijah and reaped a harvest of prolonged life. (1 King 17) Similarly, the Shunamite woman got her long-awaited desire, the blessing of a baby boy by being charitable and hospitable to Prophet Elisah. (2King 4) Stop being stingy and mean to people especially strangers. The only person that had food brought to him through a bird was Elijah, God uses human beings as vehicles to bring the prosperity of all others. Resolve to be hospitable even to your nuclear and extended family. I see you prospering.
Work hard and Serve God with fear and humility. There is no substitute for hard work. There is no substitute for sowing and reaping. There is no substitute for prayer. After giving your life to Christ, you do the necessary. “Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.” Eccl 11:6 Martin Luther King Jr said “He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” But don’t just work hard, do it with the fear of God, honesty, integrity and humility. Proverbs 22:4“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”
Remain steadfast- Learn to endure. The true worshipper who wants to prosper must be steadfast in God’s service and in what they do. The Lord will always keep His promises to those who continue to be on His side. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor 15:57. There is no sudden wealth. Wealth is built slowly. There can be “sudden breakthrough,” but before sudden breakthrough there is steady effort. Imagine drilling a rig for crude oil. After digging for several meters in years, you suddenly hit the oil reservoir bed. That is a persistent effort. I heard the story of Mrs. Alakija, the wealthiest woman in Nigeria. She said when they gave her an oil block it took her 15 years to lift the first barrel of crude oil! Have you given your life to Christ, keep digging through the scripture, digging through praying and fasting, digging through your business, you will ultimately be prosperous.
I watched in horror recently the video clip of a young ritualist boy who was barking like a dog and died in the glare of everyone. Every ungodly strategy to gain wealth will fulfil Jeremiahs prophecy, “As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatchet them not; so, he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool’ Jer 17:11
Support God’s work. Sow SEED & HARVEST it. Another way to achieve true prosperity is to support the work of God. This could be through the use of your mental, spiritual, physical and material gifts in support of the work of God. Those who want the work of God to prosper will surely prosper. Psalm 122:6,7: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
4 ways to support God work:
1.Becoming a worker in the church
2. Undertake regular evangelism, preaching the gospel and following up on the new converts in church. Follow up on coverts. Be an encourager. Barnabas helped Paul to stabilize.
3. Regularly attending Bible study and prayer meeting, and inviting others to do the same
4. Giving to God’s work regularly through faithful and regular payment of tithes and offerings.
6. The prosperity through tithing. Is it not interesting to note that human beings can quote the scripture from Genesis to Revelation on blessing. How God is good and can bless humanity. However, when God now says “you are robbing me” is where people are debating? All the money you have who gave it to you? All the money you have will you not spend it on something? Satan is a deceiver and the father of it. My advice to you is not to listen to nay sayers, obey God. God does not spend money, but money is needed to spread the gospel. Be part of those who will use your money to serve God by faithful tithing. I have paid my tithe since I gave my life to Christ on February 10,1977, my life has been from prosperity to prosperity. It will not stop by His grace. I have all-round blessing of health, mental, physical, academic, financial prosperity and more. “Follow who know road”, not those who are disobeying God. Proverbs 3:9-10-It is also written: “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine”.
Mal 3:10-12 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.” Let me highlight: the seven blessing you are denying yourself. Rather than deny yourself obey God and empower yourself
“I will open the windows of heaven …”
“I will pour out for you a blessing …!”
“There shall be no room enough to receive …”
“I will rebuke the Devourer for your sakes …”
“Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field …”
“He will deal with your vine, the very source.” He will ensure that your crop will not be dumped before the opportune time to harvest.
“…All nations will call you blessed …”
My friend, since you have not been paying your tithe has the church of God closed down? Has the work of God stopped? What have you done with your tithe? Give it to God today and watch God prosper you.
