The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and several establishments for noise pollution.
LASEPA, in a post on its X handle on Wednesday said it intensified its efforts to combat noise pollution and environmental violations by sealing off establishments across Lagos.
In a comprehensive enforcement operation, the agency targeted locations in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland, enforcing its mandate to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
Among the establishments affected by the operation are Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of God, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.
According to LASEPA, these businesses were found guilty of violating environmental regulations, despite multiple warnings from the agency.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s firm stance on environmental non-compliance.
“We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations,” Ajayi declared, emphasizing that every establishment must uphold its environmental responsibilities to support a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
Ajayi urged businesses to cooperate with the Lagos State Government in its mission to improve the environment, stressing the importance of adhering to the state’s environmental laws to safeguard public health.
This enforcement action is part of LASEPA’s ongoing efforts to maintain order and ensure that businesses comply with regulations designed to create a safer and healthier environment for Lagos residents.
The agency’s crackdown is expected to continue, targeting other establishments across the state that fail to meet environmental standards.
