October - My Month of Soul Winning by Pastor Amos Dada

It is with great delight that I welcome you to the month of October, our month of Soul Winning. Soul winning is at the very heart of God’s purpose for the Church.

From Genesis to Revelation, we see a God who is actively reaching out to redeem mankind, seeking to restore fallen humanity to Himself.

As believers, we are not only saved for heaven but commissioned to bring others to Christ.

God helped us in September to hold the International Gathering Of Eagles Conference (IGOE) – with the theme -Transformed By His Power- Some of the take aways from the conference are that we are transformed to be transformer and to get up from our comfort zone , go and reach the unreached and go and win souls for Christ. Let us slow down the rate of people going to hell and increase the number of people going to heaven!

The church pews are empty today because soul winners are on sabbatical leave. The church is empty today because the power and the signs that generate miracles that attract unbelievers to Christ are no longer visible

The pews are empty today because instead of prophesying to dry bones in the world of dry bones, we are totally distracted by social media bliss.

Nine months out of twelve are gone in 2024, 99% of Christians have not won one soul to Christ. Let us spend the next three months pursuing, overtaking, and recovering the souls we are to win in 2024.

Don’t just pray for alert and increase in your dollar bank account. Pray for an alert and increase in souls in your heavenly account. After all, the Bible says “He that wins souls is wise.” Prov. 11:30. May you join the phylum of wisdom carrier’s in Jesus' name.

I prophecy to you that this month shall be a month of progress, joy, peace, and prosperity for you in Jesus' name. May the Lord help you in the journey of your life, in Jesus’ name

What is soul winning

Soul winning is the act of leading someone to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. It involves sharing the message of the gospel—the good news of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection—with the goal of helping people make the decision to repent of their sins, believe in Jesus, and receive the gift of eternal life.

1. The Importance of Soul Winning

The value of a soul is immeasurable. Jesus emphasized this when He asked in Mark 8:36-37, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” The worth of a soul surpasses any earthly gain or achievement. Every soul matter to God, and because of that, it should matter to us as well.

A Divine Mandate: Soul winning is not just for pastors, evangelists, or missionaries; it is for every believer. Jesus’ last instruction before He ascended to heaven was for us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Soul winning is not optional; it is a command. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

An Expression of God’s Love: God loves every individual and desires that no one should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Soul winning is an expression of God’s love reaching out to the lost. When we share the gospel, we are extending God’s hand of love to those who are in darkness.

 Why We Must Win Souls

Because of the Condition of the Lost: The Bible describes those without Christ as “dead in trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1) and “having no hope and without God in the world” (Ephesians 2:12). They are on a path of eternal separation from God unless someone reaches them with the message of salvation.

Because Jesus Gave His Life for Them:  The death of Jesus on the cross demonstrates the great lengths God went to save humanity. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). We must take His sacrifice seriously and be driven to tell others about the price that was paid for their redemption.

Because We Have the Message of Life: The gospel is the only message that brings eternal life (John 14:6). People are seeking solutions in various places—religions, philosophies, and material pursuits—but only Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

The Qualities of a Soul Winner

Compassion: Jesus was often moved with compassion when He saw the multitudes (Matthew 9:36). Compassion compels us to act. Ask God to fill your heart with His love for the lost so that you are stirred to reach out to them.

Boldness and Courage: Soul winning requires boldness to share the gospel, even in the face of opposition or indifference. The early apostles prayed for boldness, and they proclaimed the Word fearlessly (Acts 4:29, 31).

Knowledge of the Word: A soul winner must be equipped with the Word of God. We are called to preach the Word in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). Familiarize yourself with scriptures that communicate God’s plan of salvation.

Practical Steps to Winning Souls

Start With Prayer: Every great move of God begins with prayer. Pray for open doors, divine appointments, and receptive hearts. Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare you and the people you are reaching out to.

Build Relationships: Soul winning is more effective when we build genuine relationships. People are more open to the gospel when they see Christ-like love in action. Be intentional in showing kindness, patience, and care.

Share Your Testimony: One of the most powerful tools in soul winning is your personal testimony. Tell others what Jesus has done in your life. It is a unique story that no one can refute, and it has the power to open hearts.

Use the Word of God: Scriptures like John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and Romans 10:9-10 clearly present the gospel message. Let the Word speak for itself, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Give a Call to Action: After sharing the gospel, invite the person to respond. Ask if they would like to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. Lead them in a prayer of repentance and commitment to Jesus.

Examples of soul winning

1. Andrew Bringing His Brother Peter to Jesus (John 1:40-42)

Andrew, one of the first disciples of Jesus, heard John the Baptist proclaim Jesus as the Lamb of God. Andrew immediately followed Jesus and spent time with Him. Afterward, he found his brother Simon Peter and told him, “We have found the Messiah.” He brought Peter to Jesus, and Peter became one of the most prominent apostles in the early church.

2. Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40)

Philip, one of the early deacons and evangelists in the church, was directed by the Holy Spirit to go to a desert road where he encountered an Ethiopian eunuch reading the book of Isaiah. Philip approached the man and asked if he understood what he was reading. The eunuch replied, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” Philip used this opportunity to preach Jesus to him, starting from the very scripture he was reading. The eunuch believed and was baptized on the spot.

3. Paul and Silas in the Philippian Jail (Acts 16:25-34)

While Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Philippi, they prayed and sang hymns to God at midnight. Suddenly, a violent earthquake shook the prison, and all the prisoners’ chains were loosed. When the jailer saw this, he was about to kill himself, thinking the prisoners had escaped. Paul stopped him and reassured him that no one had fled. The jailer, amazed, asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Paul and Silas replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” That same night, the jailer and his entire household were baptized.

The Rewards of Soul Winning

Heavenly Rejoicing: There is joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:7). When we win a soul, we participate in the heavenly celebration.

Crowning Glory: There is a special reward for those who are diligent in soul winning. Paul spoke of a “crown of rejoicing” for those who bring others to Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20).

Fulfillment of God’s Purpose: Winning souls gives us a sense of fulfillment and joy because we are aligning ourselves with God’s heartbeat. We are part of building His kingdom and rescuing lives for eternity.

Conclusion: Soul winning is a divine assignment that every believer is called to fulfill. Let us rise to this call with urgency, boldness, and compassion. Be a witness for Christ in your sphere of influence—whether in your workplace, school, neighborhood, or family. Someone’s eternal destiny could be changed because you were willing to share the gospel. - "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” Prov 11:30. You are wise enough to win souls.
