The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down nine establishments over alleged noise and other environmental pollution.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement on Monday, said the move was aimed at fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for residents.
Mr Wahab said, “The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) @LasepaOfficial, during the week, sealed several establishments across the state.”
He said the sealed establishments are Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Center & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.
“These establishments were shut down for failing to comply with environmental standards, despite prior notices from the agency,” said the Lagos official, adding that the enforcement operation was carried out in Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo.
Stating that the operation emphasises the agency’s resolve to uphold environmental laws and safeguard the well-being of Lagosians, the agency assured residents of its continued efforts to create a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable state.
