Four Nigerians Executed in Indonesia For Drug Trafficking

Indonesia confirms executions four Nigerians and five other members of the Bali Nine prisoners being held in Bali for drug offences have just been executed.

Indonesian media say the execution took place at 00:25 local time (6:25pm Nigeria time).

 

Among them were two Australians, one Brazilian, four Nigerians and one Indonesian.

But a Filipina woman was spared at the 11th hour, local media reports.

The convicts were put to death by firing squad on the prison island of Nusakambangan.

  • Martin Anderson -50
  • Okwudili Oyatanze – 41
  • Jamiu Owolabi Abashin – 50
  • Silvester Obiekwe Nwolise – 47

We’ve carried out the executions,” said an attorney general’s office official, talking to the press on condition of anonymity.

The executions were carried out at 12:30am,” Suhendro Putro, funeral director with the Javanese Christian Church in Cilacap, said in a short message service. 

A Cilacap police officer said that after the executions, prayers were said for each person according to their respective religion. “The executions went well, without any disruptions,” he said.
