The All Progressive Congress transition committee in Katsina said it was shocked to discover that about 8.5 billion naira was expended by the outgoing administration in this month of April alone.
Disclosing this to newsmen, the chairman of the committee Mustapha Inuwa, said the committee discovered this while interfacing with the states accountant general.
According to him, part of the N8.5bn expenditure included the payment of severance allowances and gratuity to the outgoing governor and his deputy of about 370 and 217 million naira respectively.
He said, it was disheartening to observed that pensioners are owed over the years only to discover that the outgoing governor and his deputy have paid themselves.
He said available documents showed that the Fund Allocation Committee meetings of the state expended such monies adding that we shall keep meeting with more government representatives since we have broken down into sub committees
