Members of the British Parliament hammered Donald Trump on Monday during a special debate on the question of whether the nation's government should forbid the billionaire from entering the UK.
Members of Parliament were in full outrage mode on Monday, with one claiming he is a 'dangerous fool' who 'fuels the flames of terrorism' with 'poisonous' views on Muslims.
After three hours of debate, the idea of barring him from Britain, however, was largely dismissed because it could turn him into a conservative martyr. There was no formal vote on the matter.
Trump has come under fire for insisting that the United States should temporarily bar non-citizen Muslims from entering the U.S. until the Obama administration can assess and address the threats posed by jihadi radicals.
He also said on Twitter that the 'The United Kingdom is trying hard to disguise their massive Muslim problem.'
That line of attack – combined with his insistence that the U.S. should wall off its southern border with Mexico – has drawn complaints that Trump is a closet racist and Islamophobe who wants to divide Americans along religious and ethnic lines.
