Nollywood actor, Yomi Fash-Lanso has lambasted his fellow actor, Mercy Aigbe, who said Yoruba-speaking actors were seen as illiterates.
The veteran Yoruba movie actor, popularly called Fash, told HipTv in a recent chat that whoever thinks in that manner that Yoruba-speaking actors were illiterates, was thinking stupidly.
It would be recalled that Aigbe recently told newsmen in Lagos that Yoruba-speaking actors were being discriminated by their English-speaking counterparts.
Aigbe’s claims came after she was allegedly ‘snubbed’ by ThisDay Style magazine in its list of best dressed Nollywood stars.
According to her, it was said that her outfit to this year’s Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, AMVCA, was not worthy of the magazine’s recognition.
This oversight was said to have sparked accusations of discrimination directed at the English-speaking segment of Nollywood.
But reacting to this, Fash lashed out those discriminating against Yoruba-speaking actors, calling them “stupid.”
He said, “What is illiteracy? Can you give me the terminology for illiteracy?
“We don’t speak English, is English our language? Whoever says to you that those who don’t speak English are illiterates, tell that person he’s a very stupid person,” the ‘Dazzling Mirage’ actor stated.
