A film called 93 Days, may just have landed its producers and the entire cast, in trouble.
93 days is dedicated to the memory of Ebola victims and survivors in the country and stars Danny Glover, Bimbo Akintola, Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey and other Nollywood veterans.
The movie is put together by Native Filmworks, Michelangelo Productions, Bolanle Austen-Peters and Steve Gukas.
93 days is billed to hit cinemas in 2016 amid fanfare, but we smell a lawsuit from the late Stella Adadevoh family. The entire story-line of the movie revolves around the late First Consultants Doctor who handled the index case of Ebola in Nigeria and paid for her bravery with her life.
Adadevoh’s family say the film-makers embarked on the project without their permission. The family’s statement on Monday reads in part:
“It has been brought to our attention that a movie titled, 93 Days, written by Paul .S. Rowlston and produced by Native Filmworks, Michelangelo Productions and Bolanle Austin-Peters Productions, is in works for imminent release. The movie about Nigeria’s Ebola story and “dedicated to” Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh was not endorsed by the family.
“The Adadevoh and Cardoso families have not consented to the use of the Stella Adadevoh’s name, likeness or image for commercial profit. The families intend to hold the filmmakers legally accountable for any falsehoods and innuendos in the movie, 93 Days with regard to Dr. Adadevoh and her family.”
A member of the family, Kwami Adedevoh, tweeted the entire statement below:
