Miss BumBum Brazil 2015 crowned

The bizarre South American beauty pageant reached its climax tonight as Suzy Cortez was crowned Miss Bumbum 2015.

The fifth annual contest saw women from around Brazil flock to Sao Paolo to be judged on their derrieres.

More than 500 women took part in the pageant , which was whittled down to 15 finalists for each of the Brazilian states .

Miss Cortez, from Distrito Federal, beat off pert competition to take this year's title.

Camila Gomes, representing Minas Gerais, came second while Dani Sperle, of Rio de Janeiro, finished in third place.

Speaking after the announcement, Suzy said: "I've been preparing myself for the past four months. I've always wanted to win this contest.

"I dedicated myself completely. I dieted and did rigorous training."

Although the contestants are excited to take part, runner up in the pageant last year, Andressa Urach, nearly died after procedures to enhance her rear began to rot.

This year contestants had to prove that they had not undergone surgery nor used chemical products.

Bottoms are a thing of national pride in Brazil, where some Carnival beauties have been reported to get their behinds covered by insurance companies.
