Ridiculous food items Africa supposedly got from China that turned out to be false

Social media is a two-edged sword. Inasmuch as it is currently the best platform to disseminate news and share content, it also, unfortunately, breeds the circulation of all sorts of fake news targeted at gullible people.

With China currently staking its claim in Africa by offering “attractive” but questionable financial aid and other resources which our governments are finding very difficult to turn down, the communist state has become a focus of attention with all sorts of news about their activities on the continent including fabricated ones.

Notable among the false news that has been circulating is imported foods from China purported to be made with plastic and thus unwholesome. Causing fear and panic in some instances, the food and drugs authorities of some African countries have had to come out and calm hearts and assure people such products aren’t in existence.

Scroll through to read about some of them:

from China. In videos that were shared across social media, the plastic rice, when cooked and shaped in the form of a ball becomes very bouncy.

The viral videos even compelled Ghana’s food and drugs authority to carry out an investigation with findings revealing there was no such thing being sold on the Ghanaian market.

Plastic vegetables

There were also some viral videos of some Chinese factories producing what looked like vegetables and fruits for consumption with poisonous chemicals. People were told to be wary of such products on the market but it turned out they were merely made for display purposes for eateries.
