Every Woman Should Avoid Ectopic Pregnancy By Staying Away From These 3 Things

Pregnancy follows a sequential pattern in a woman’s body and one of the crucial steps is when a fertilized egg proceeds along to the uterus to attach itself. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, the fertilized egg may attach itself to the fallopian tube, abdominal cavity, or cervix instead of the uterus. Do you know that ectopic pregnancies account for 1% to 2% of all conceptions? Ectopic pregnancy is very dangerous and can lead to heavy bleeding. Heavy bleeding can result in serious medical problems and, periodically, even death. However, most women nowadays are diagnosed in the early stages, before this happens.

What is an ectopic pregnancy?

Ectopic pregnancy is a type of pregnancy in which the fertilised egg implants outside the uterus. The fertilised egg can't survive outside the uterus. If left to grow, it may ravage nearby organs and result in life-threatening loss of blood.Ectopic pregnancy is rare and usually occurs in women who have had previous problems in the fallopian tubes, such as infections or endomendometris. That is why women need to avoid things that can damage their womb.

Certain things have been linked to ectopic pregnancy. Some of them include hormonal factors, inflammation and scarring of the fallopian tubes which may result from a previous medical condition, infection, or surgery, genetic abnormalities, birth defects, medical conditions that affect the shape and condition of the fallopian tubes and reproductive organs, etc.

Certain things can increase your risk of developing ectopic pregnancy. Some of them include;

.Age (maternal age of 35 years or older).

.History of different types of surgery such as pelvic surgery, abdominal surgery, or multiple abortions.

.History of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

.History of endometriosis.

.Conception occurred despite birth control methods such as tubal ligation or intrauterine device (IUD).

.Conception assisted by fertility drugs or technique.

.Smoking.

.When one has a history of ectopic pregnancy.

.History of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as gonorrhoea or chlamydia.

.When there are abnormal structures in the fallopian tubes that make it hard for the egg to travel.

All women should make sure they avoid the manageable risk factors.

What are the signs and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy?

There are different signs your body will give you once you have an ectopic pregnancy. Some of them include;

.Sharp waves of pain in different areas such as the abdomen, pelvis, shoulder, or neck.

.Severe pain that occurs on one side of the abdomen.

.Light to heavy vaginal spotting or bleeding

dizziness or fainting.

.Rectal pressure, etc.

Some things can cause ectopic pregnancy when you do them. Some of them include;

1. Smoking

Aside from lung cancer, smoking can also trigger the development of ectopic pregnancy. Studies have also linked smoking to a protein that is thought to heighten the chances of an ectopic pregnancy. Cigarette smoke also lessens the production of a Fallopian tube gene known as "BAD," which helps explain the link between smoking and ectopic pregnancy. All women should desist from smoking to avoid suffering this type of pregnancy.

2. Multiple sexual partners

Promiscuity increases your risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases which can, in turn, cause ectopic pregnancy. Since having multiple sexual partners increases a woman's risk of pelvic infections, it is also associated with an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy.STIs can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, tubal scarring, and additional reproductive issues, as well as infertility if not treated hence reduce your number Of people you have sex with. Also, make sure you practice safe sex for safety.

3. The use of an intrauterine device (IUD)

Intra Uterine Device is a T-shaped birth control device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Studies have shown that women who become pregnant while using an IUD are more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy. IUD can also cause ectopic pregnancy because the bacteria brought in through IUD insertion may cause fallopian tube infection which increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy.
