Last week, Zainab Abdulmalik publicly announced that she would offer a car and hiouse to any man who took her hand in marriage. Since she made the proclamation on a local radio station, after her boyfriend took off with her money and dumped her, hundreds of youths have got in touch with Zainab. 

Local authorities now believe that she must be mad to have become so desperate for husband and have thus sent her to a mental hospital. Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim, the head of the Dawanau hospital, has confirmed the admission of the lady, saying she has been their patient for long. 

Mallam Ibrahim said: “Yes she is on admission in our hospital but this is not the first time she would be brought here. She has been an outpatient for long but she was brought here at the weekend.”
According to one of her neighbours in the Ayagi area of Kano State, the boyfriend who originally jilted her has been sued to court. One of her relatives said Zainab was rushed to the hospital because her mental challenge worsened after she had picked one of the suitors that thronged to the Freedom Radio station to marry her. 

Zainab's relation said: “She was stable until when she was betrayed by somebody who promised to marry her after collecting money from her last year. Since then she developed mental problem and she has been on and off at the psychiatric hospital.

“Her condition relapsed at the weekend that was why she was taken to the hospital. If you go there now, you will see her because she is on admission.”

Apparently, her boyfriend's parents live in the Gandun Albasa area of Kano and since being taken to court, he has promised to pay N50,000 (£160) monthly to refund Zainab's money. According to Zainab's neighbours, she was not having mental challenges until her boyfriend betrayed her.
