A teen mother was arrested on a charge of murder after killing her newborn baby and dumping the dead body under a tree, police in Australia said.

Now, the 19-year-old woman who was not identified, walked out of a court without receiving any punishment because she became acutely distressed and was in shock after giving birth in a bedroom of her father's home.

 The judge said that the woman’s mental state was altered when she realized what was happening. Her mental disturbance had affected her ability to think rationally at the time.

A doctor told the court that the woman suffered chronic anxiety and depression after the death of her child. The woman was found guilty of infanticide.

According to the police investigation, the woman gave birth to a girl weighing 8 pounds in the bedroom of her father's home.

The girl told investigators that the baby stopped breathing shortly after the birth. She did not call for help because she did not know she was pregnant and she was scared.

She placed the baby in a bag and kept her in her room. The next day, the woman dumped the bag in a trash bin under a tree.

An autopsy was performed, but the cause of death could not be established.

The woman also revealed that she did not believe she was pregnant because her boyfriend always wore condoms during sex.
