Ogun police boss beats female traffic warden into stupor for having the guts to stop him

 

POLICE in Ogun State are investigating an incident involving the divisional police officer in charge of Ikenne Division Patrick Onwu after it was alleged he beat a female traffic warden into a coma for having the audacity to stop his vehicle.

According to eyewitness reports, Mr Onwu who was on mufti and driving his private car, was stopped by the traffic Inspector Anifat Bello,  who was discharging her official duties at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Junction, on IBB Boulevard Way. He was allegedly to have disobeyed the traffic law and was pulled over for the infringement.

 Incensed at what he saw as the brazen cheek of the traffic officer, the police boss was said to have driven into a nearby filling station, parked and changed into his police uniform. He then pounced on Inspector Bello, who in the past had been severally honoured for her dedication to duty.

 Following the assault, the victim  was reportedly beaten to stupor by the senior officer who was coming into Abeokuta from Sagamu end of the Siun-Kopabe-Sagamu Expressway. Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, had during a familarisation visit to Ogun State Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, recommended the traffic officer for a national honour.

 Muyiwa Adejobi,  the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the incident, adding that the police commissioner was unhappy about the incident and had directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated. He added that if the allegation is true, he us very sure the police commissioner will know what to do.

 “The woman traffic officer has reported the matter to the police commissioner and he has directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated. The commissioner of police was not happy when the woman came with a swollen face.," Mr
