Rockland County’s oldest might just be the oldest couple in the world will set to celebrate their birthdays in a very special way in the presence of a few well-wishers, family members and Marie Eveillard their daughter whom they live together.

This couple both have a combined age of a whopping 202 years which means a whole lot to themselves, families and the County at large because they have been part of the rich history of the County for a whole generation.

Duranord Veillard became 109 years in February while his cherished wife, Jeanne, became 105 in May. Duranord and Jeanne have been married for almost a generation. It is has been 83 years since they both walked down the on November 1932 the same very month when Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president  to say their marriage vows and little did they know that they would live this long.

Duranord was born on February 28, 1907 to a fisherman in St. Louis du Sud and was raised in Les Cayes in Southern Haiti and studied law and lived in Port-au-Prince.

This wonderful couple gave birth to five kids and later moved to the United States in 1968 with his family when Duranord lost his job as judge. He settled in Spring Valley.

Veillard worked as a lab technician at the Good Samaritan hospital for 10 years and was retired for the second time.

Duranord Veillard was dressed in matching crisping white guayabera with brown slacks and brown leather shoes and enjoyed the moments with his family as he cracked jokes and held the American flag then he began to sing songs he learnt in Cuba in the 1920s.
