A 19-year-old man, Tunde Ahmed, was yesterday arraigned at an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly defiling a neighbor’s six year old daughter. The suspect who was charged with indecent treatment of a child and child defilement was accused of committing the crime on April 7 at his residence.
The prosecutor, ASP Soji Ojaokomo said the girl was lured into the accused's room where he forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her. The case was adjourned to May 14 after the accused was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum. Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 prescribes that any person who has sexual intercourse with a child is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life.
