7-year-old boy dies after healer performs slapping therapy

A mother joined a healer who promised to heal her boy of diabetes by slapping him.

Police in Australia, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the 7-year-old boy with diabetes who had attended a “slapping workshop” conducted by a Chinese therapist who visited the country.

The boy, Aidan Fenton, was found unconscious in a hotel after he and his mother had attended the workshop for alternative therapies at the Pan Health Medical Center in Sydney.

The workshop was held by Chinese “healer” Xiao Hongchi, who teaches techniques on various kinds of traditional Chinese medicine.

The therapy includes cupping, which is a form of alternative medicine in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction.

He also promotes “paida-lajin” therapy, which involves repeatedly hitting and stretching the body parts to draw out toxins.

Hongchi said that the therapy has cured various medical conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, in previous workshops.

Police are investigating whether Fenton had stopped taking insulin and trusted the alternative therapy to cure his diabetes.

Hongchi’s workshop comes at a cost of $1,420.

He has been questioned by police and has since left the country.
