A retired Nurse dies in her lover's house

The death of a 57 year old woman, known as Bonu Fiaret, in Salu area of Badagry in Lagos State, who died in her lover’s apartment under questionable circumstances on January 2, has continued to breed controversy.

It was gathered that, the deceased, was a staff of Badagry General Hospital and as a nurse before she retired, and was in a relationship with one Akodogbo.

The lovers, it was learnt went their separate ways some months back due to the health status of the deceased, but rekindled their romance when they ran into each other at the Badagry community carnival.

After spending time together, the duo went to Akodogbos one room apartment where they spent the night together. Trouble however started when Akodogbo woke up and discovered that his lover who slept by his side was lifeless.

Report says the case, which was initially reported at the Badagry Divisional Police, is already being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba,Lagos .

At the residence of the suspect in Badagry, a family member disclosed to our reporter that family members of the dead are now accusing Akodogbo of killing the deceased.

Akodogbo, a 60 year old man and father of one said, “We have been lovers for more than two years, but we had to end the relationship because of her health condition. She is hypertensive.

“But we met during the carnival in Badagry and we discussed. We spent time together and had a lot of fun together at the carnival.

“Like school children, the old flame was rekindled and we decided to continue the affair. She agreed to spend the night at my place.

“By the time I woke up in the morning, I tried to wake her up, but she did not move; her body had already become lifeless and stiff. I was alarmed and alerted my neighbours.

“They said this was beyond them and that the police needed to be involved. That was how the police was contracted. I did not kill her,” he said.

Kenneth Nwosu, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident and said the case was currently being investigated
