An illiterate groom in India, was embarrassed at the altar after being dumped by his bride for not being able to count beyond nine.

The incident unfolded on Monday night, as Khushboo Saxena of Gulariapur, was set to get married to Omveer Singh of Saraia.

When the wedding ceremony began, one of the bride’s friends told Saxena that the groom was unable to recite the wedding vows correctly.

Saxena then decided to ask her groom some math questions.

When her parents tried to stop her, she said that she could not get married to an illiterate person. When asked to count coins, Singh could not go beyond nine.

She then handed him her mobile phone and he was unable to dial her number. Saxena concluded that he was mentally unfit, and canceled the wedding against the wishes of her family and friends.

The groom however, did not stay single for long. On Wednesday night, he married another woman, who apparently doesn't care about his illiteracy.
