Man in for Court allegedly stealing plywood

An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday commenced the trial of one Sylvester Eruga charged with allegedly stealing two plywood sheets worth N42, 000 from a construction site.

The 27-year-old Eruga, who is of no fixed address, is facing trial on a charge of theft.

At the resumed trial, Mr Sekinat Akinbola, an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) and a prosecution witness told the Court that Eruga jumped the fence into the construction site and stole two ply wood sheets.

Akinbola told the court that the alleged stolen plywood were recovered from the accused.

The witness was led in evidence by the prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby, who tendered the plywood as exhibit.

The Magistrate, Mrs F. F. George admitted the plywood as evidence and adjourned the case to Jan. 11, 2016 for the continuation of trial.

The prosecutor had on Dec. 3, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on Dec. 2, at 11pm at Goshen Estate, Marwa in Lekki phase 1, Lagos.

Emby alleged that the accused stole the plywood worth N42, 000, property of one Mr Segun Shoboyede.

He said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused had pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N40, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
