Last week, a double tragedy occurred in Baltimore, United States, as a Nigerian man, Muhammadu Igomigoh, murdered the mother of his two children and subsequently committed suicide.
Baltimore County Police revealed that the 49-year-old Igomigoh shot his estranged wife, Nnenna Ogbonna, who is also a Nigerian, on Tuesday, February 16.
The couple had separated following reported irreconcilable differences over finances and infidelity.
Igomigoh, a security guard, was said to have carried out the act following an alleged dispute with Nnenna, over money.
According to police report, Igomigoh visited Ogbonna’s home at 700 block of Nothrop Lane on the day of the incident and the pair got into an argument.
Igomigoh then shot Nnenna, a certified nurse, with his licensed gun and proceeded to shoot himself afterwards.
According to the Baltimore Police, a 911 call was made shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday and upon arrival at the scene of the crime, they found the two Nigerians suffering from gunshot wounds and were later declared dead.
The Police said: “A Nigerian man from Delta State killed his wife an Igbo lady in Baltimore around 12pm/1pm and shot himself as well in the presence of his mother-in-law and 4-month-old child.”
