A suspected member of Boko Haram, who allegedly fled Maiduguri, has been arrested and paraded by the Police in Ogun State.
22-year old suspected member of the deadly Islamic group, Boko Haram, identified as Muktar Umar, who allegedly fled Maiduguri, has been arrested in Ogun State and was paraded on Monday by the state Police Command after his arrest in Kara area of Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
Abdulmajid Ali, the state commissioner of police, said Umar fled the insurgents’ base, following the 'heat being experienced' by them in the hands of the joint military task force, adding that the suspect thereafter sneaked out of Maiduguri to Isheri area of Lagos State as his first contact.
The commissioner also said the suspect who later relocated to Kara community along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was apprehended by the police after a tip-off.
The suspected terrorist who answered questions from journalists, denied membership of Boko Haram sect, saying it was his friend, identified as Mustapha, that was declared wanted by the police for terrorism.
He said he was wrongly declared wanted by the authorities alongside his friend, adding that he decided to relocate to Kara community three years ago on the advice of his father.
