Let me begin with felicitating Hon. Dauda Iliya on his reappointment as the Interim Chairman of Kudan Local Government Council. Indeed this reappointment is an indication of; and a clear testimony of the unshaken confidence the Governor has on him. Also it is a true reflection of the manner in which he conducted the affairs of the Local Government Council during his first coming, which absolutely found expression in the visible transformations he brought to the communities.

In six months, Kudan has been transformed from Rural Local government to Urban Local Government.

In other word, Dauda Hunkuyi has been able to justify the raison d’être of local government as the third tier that serves as a lens through which a common man views Federal Government, and also as an organ of decentralization.

However, during the weekend, as I passed through Kudan Local government on my way to Malumfashi for wedding ceremony, I was completely astonished by the both structural and physical development I had seen. In fact that made me to detour in order to ascertain the level of developments there.

As I moved through the various communities such as Zabi, Kauran Wali, Garu, Jaja, Hunkuyi, Kudan and Doka; I was impressed by their well-tarred roads of qualitative asphalt, and with Speed-breakers too. I was also overwhelmed by the Streetlights and Single/Double Ring drainage culverts connecting all the communities. There was also an indication of Rural Electrification all over the communities which even made me to mistaken Kudan Local government with GRA Unguwan Rimi of Kaduna, (in terms of beautiful features and sceneries)

Such unprecedented development and gigantic projects must have piqued the curious minds like ours to find out who really did all these. I imagined, and felt that such transformations occurred in the 16 years of PDP, because there is no way one could have thought that such huge infrastructural development could be possible in anything less than 16 years. But Alas! When I inquired on whether it was the accumulated works of the PDP’s 16 years; I was told it was Hon. Dauda Iliya Hunkuyi who did all these, and in the space of six months only. Imagine?

This quickly made me to recall that Hon Dauda was the only chairman who announced the receipt of the sum of N117, 227, 683. 45 (N117M) from the joint allocation committee as grant for June, July and August in 2015.
That notwithstanding, he also declared, afterward, the sum of N98, 192,660.69 (N98M) as the residual balance of the actual grant he received, after expending the other amounts on various development projects, Health, Education and social service.
The background of this logic is nothing but prudence, transparency and Management. It means that Dauda Hunkuyi has a notion and know-how on the concept of popular democratic governance.
The manner in which Hon. Dauda engineers the affairs of his Local Governemtn Council and the precision with which he moves local government, depicted a clear break away from the situational tragedies of Local Government Councils in the last 16 years of PDP where Local Governments Chairmen turned the Councils to be a Cash collection centers. They only came to the local governments at the end of the month when they received grant from Abuja. They will bring the entire grant in a Ghana-Must Go bag; enter the bush or farm, shares the monies between the Chairman his Vice, DPM and Treasurer. They would all dispersed to state capital where they built their mansions; till after next calendar month before they converge again to share another grant.
People of Hunkuyi today are most grateful to his Excellecny the Governor of the State for him uncanny wisdom in carefully scouting for Dauda Hunkuyi and selecting him to run the affairs of the Council. Daudahas proven his mettle as a square peg in a square hole and that warranted his reappointment.
It also my fervent wish and prayer that one day Dauda will become the governor of Kaduna state to continue from where Elrufai stops. To also consolidate all the good works, programs and policies of Elrufai.
