Four out of the five man suspected killer gang that kidnapped and killed Colonel Inusa Samaila in Kaduna about three months ago have been arraigned before Court 1, in Kaduna.
They are Emeka Okeke, Precious Ebele, Ibrahim Kabiru and Chijoke Egwuanyi while the fifth accused, Dan Sokoto is still at large.
Their case came up Tuesday at court 1, Ibrahim Taiwo road where they were charged with criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, criminal possession of firearms and culpable homicide punishable by death.
Their case contravenes section 6(6), 3 (1&2), of the robbery and fire arms law and sections 221, 237 of the penal code of Kaduna State.
The first information report informed the court that on March 26, 2016, one Ubu James reported to the Sabon Tasha police station that Colonel Inusa Samaila, who was with his family during a visit to him was whisked away by unknown men in his Mercedes Benz Jeep KDJ142 to unknown destination, adding that later, the Colonel’s corpse was found at Mahuta village, behind Nigerian National Petroleum Corpotation, NNPC, on the Eastern express way, Kaduna.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Emmanuel Yusuf of Chief magistrate court 1, Kaduna, told the accused persons that he does not have the jurisdiction to try them.
“The purpose of my being here is to let you know about your offence and for you to be remanded in prison custody and for the police to complete its investigation pending when the appropriate court will handle your case,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the case was adjourned to July 21, 2016 for mentioning and the accused persons are to be remanded in prison custody.
It will be recalled that the Kaduna State Police Command recently arrested the suspected killers of Colonel Inusa Samaila, who was kidnapped and killed in Kaduna state.
