A city preacher who killed a woman believed to be his girlfriend in his car four years ago has now been convicted to a death sentence.
Handing the rulling, High Court judge Jessi Lesiit found Pastor Paul Ng’ang’a Wanjiru of the Dagoretti-based Wells of Faith Church guilty of murdering Ms Caroline Chinjira in 2012.
The deceased was an employee of Panafric Hotel and is said to have been pregnant with the pastor’s child.
Pastor Ng’ang’a allegedly did not want his congregation to know about his girlfriend’s pregnancy and decided to end her life.
The judge directed that the pastor, who had been released on bond pending the rulling of the murder case, be arrested and locked in.
His co-accused, believed to be his son James Mutunga Muia, was set free.
According to the Judge, the evidence presented in the court was sufficient to find the preacher guilty of the murder. The prosecution side had presented results of the DNA samples of the deceased and the pastor, which were found in the vehicle where the murder happened.
