The Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has traveled to the United State of America, this blog can reveal.
Ibrahim Mustafa Magu was said to have made the journey to New York shortly after ordering the arrest of a popular blogger, Abubakar Sidiq Usman also known as Abusidiq
Abusidiq was arrested on August 8 on the allegation of cyber stalking following an article he published on Abusidiqu.com which exposed bullying and corruption in the organisation led by Mr Magu.
Staff at the commission confirmed to the editor of this blog, Adenike Lucas that “it is impossible for Mr Magu to be unaware of Abusidiq’s arrest.”
Sources close to the case say: “the EFCC boss has refused to come back from the USA, in order to allow his recent impunity of the arrest of ‘Abusidiqu’ die down.
“So that Presidency does not confront him with such an embarrassment he had brought up, on the relationship of PMB and the Nigeria Media.”
The source requested for the understanding of Nigerians, saying “that any attempt by NASS to confirm the appointment of Magu as substantive Chair of EFCC smells more disaster and doom for the Presidency, Nigeria Media, Freedom of Speech, Core EFCC Staff, and what have you. Therefore President Muhammadu Buhari was asked not to confirm Mr Magu,
“It has become imperative to bring to the attention of both the Presidency under PMB, and the good incorruptible ones among Senators, to ensure that no stone is left unturned to salvage the EFCC as an institution most revered.
“Apparently, Magu of EFCC may turn to wanting to get public sympathy by saying ‘Corruption is fighting back,’ but truth be told, Magu of EFCC has been going round in desperation, trying to garner support for his confirmation, most especially with the use of blackmail of some who have cases in the past with at EFCC.”
“Now the question to Nigerians, irrespective of the ‘Arrests and Recoveries,’ can we afford to allow Magu of EFCC drag Nigeria to the dark age of Decree 4!
“It should be noted that PMB as our President can never be party to Magu’s effort to embarrass this government through the back door.
“Now we ask #IsMaguFit ? to lead the EFCC – an institution so critical in the success of this administration?”
