A35-year-old man, Ugwu Michael who was alleged to have defiled his three years old step-daughter (names withheld) in Akure, the state capital has been arrested by the police.

The Police First Information Report revealed that the suspect who happened to be the step-father of the victim sexually abused the girl by having carnal knowledge of her.

The suspect was alleged to have carried the criminal act on the victim after the mother of the girl left for market to buy some soup ingredients.

According to the police investigation, Sunday Umen of No 6, Owode Street, Akure on August 25, 2016 at about 5:30pm reported that his co-tenant, one Ugwu Michael (the suspect) aged 35 years who happened to be the step-father of the victim sexually abused the girl by having sexual intercourse with her.

The investigation further revealed that the complainant stated that the suspect beat up the girl and her elder brother, simply identify as Goodluck as a result of the alarm they raised to expose his criminal act.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, CSP Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident to The Hope said that blood was dropping from the girl’s private part when detectives visited the scene of the incident.

The police image maker hinted that the mother of the victim is heavily pregnant for the suspect who is currently her husband.

He explained that the elder brother of the girl who heard his younger sister crying painfully raised alarm which attracted the attention of the co-tenant in the house that reported the incident to the police.

The PPRO pointed out that the girl has been taken to the police hospital for medical attention
