A 67-year-old Irish national, James Turner, who was dragged to the Lagos Police Command at the weekend by his Nigerian lover for allegedly infecting her with Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, says he had unprotected sex with over six ladies.
Turner, a construction worker in Lagos had been dating a 31-year-old Nigerian woman, identified only as Blessing but their ‘romantic’ relationship went sour after Blessing discovered he was HIV positive and must have infested her with same.
DAILY POST recalls that the Benue state-born stirred up a mild drama on Saturday as she stormed the state Police Command with her lover, screaming: “You see what you have done now? We could have settled this at home.”
Turner, who kept his status away from his Nigerian lover for years, has opened up, saying he sent his wife back to the Republic of Ireland, when his status was confirmed, in order not to infected her with the virus.
DAILY POST learnt the man had confessed to have slept with other ladies (some of whom were Blessing’s friends suspected to be commercial sex workers), after his status was confirmed.
Meanwhile, Turner refused to disclose why he hid the anti-retroviral drugs from his lover.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the arrest, assured that measures had been put in place to prevent further infection of other ladies by the suspect.
“We are waiting for expert’s opinion to conclude the charge against the suspect,” restating that “at the moment, we are treating the lady as the victim and the man as the suspect. If our investigation reveals anything to the contrary, we will amend our focus on the case.”
