Atiku is already atikulating defeat in presidential bid

Serial party defector, perennial presidential candidate and former vice president Atiku Abubakar, currently seeking the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 (s)election, is not quite confident about his chances of securing the nomination.

A PDP source close to Atiku told Naijiant.com that the candidate, who rejoined the PDP in December last year, is very reluctant to spend money on his campaign because he fears he is not going to win the nomination.  He would be quite happy to pull open his considerable purse strings in the unlikely event that he is the PDP nominee.  For now, he is not willing to throw good money at a bad chance.

Atiku, according to the source, has accepted defeat to the other major players with their eyes on the ticket.  Senate President Bukola Saraki and Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal are among the favourites.

Saraki and Wike

Tambuwal has the added advantage of having the backing of Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike.  Wike is in charge of the richest state under PDP control and his “boy” Uche Secondus is the party Chairman.

Wike and Tambuwal plotting

Wike is in a position to be a shot-caller in the PDP right now and he is said to believe that his alliance with Tambuwal will result in the Rivers State governor securing the nomination to run for president in 2023.

Saraki appears to be the only other candidate with a chance of derailing the Tambuwal/Wike/Secondus coalition.
