Hillary Clinton, former U.S. First Lady, Secretary of State, senator and Arkansas first lady has formally announced her intention to run for the President of the United States in 2016.
In a campaign video released Sunday by her official campaign team on YouTube, Ms Clinton said that the “opportunity of Americans are still stacked in favour of those at the top.”
Clinton plans to travel to the central swing state state of Iowa soon to “start talking directly with voters,” and to hold a formal campaign kick off next month, according to an email from her top aide John Podesta, which was posted by Jesse Berney on Twitter.
Clinton starts as the overwhelming favorite to win the Democratic nomination, leading national and early state polls by 40-50 points.
No noteworthy Democrat is officially challenging Clinton yet, but Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, Bernie Sanders, and Lincoln Chafee are all considering it.
