OBASANJO PUTS OTA FARMS FOR SALE. I LAFF THE LAFF OF A MAIDUGURI MAN.........

OBASANJO PUTS OTA FARMS FOR SALE.I LAFF THE LAFF OF A MAIDUGURI MAN WHO FINDS HIMSELF IN GREENLAND LISTENING TO THE JOKE OF AN ESKIMO

This reminds me. In 1984, when General Buhari took overs as Head of State, he moved swiftly like the soldier he was to clean up the Augean stable that Nigeria was. The record of corruption then was only recently surpassed by the last Jonatharian PDP rule. Buhari grabbed all the corrupt politicians and contractors like JJ Rawings of Ghana also did. But rather than send the top ones to the gallows like JJ, he threw them all in jail with the proviso that when ever a culprit returned his loot, he could go home. Trillions of naira, especially in the form of landed properties - Mansions, Highrise buildings and 5-Star hotels - were confiscated.

Government was still busy picking up these properties when some close friends of Buhari in his governent that saw governance in a different light, struck in August 1985. The group was headed by Babangida who in actual fact had for the previous four years been putting in place a plan to first be Second-in-Command in a military government, then take over as a Military President and end up as a Civilian President for life. His model for ascendancy was that of his mentor, President Gamel Nassir of Egypt. The first state of the plan had been achieved and the second ripe for implementation. He knocked of Buhari and took over.

The first act of IBB was to rename that office as ”President" and started immediately on the process of becoming the Civilian president. One of the many pronged actions was to placate the big politicians that could be stumbling blocks. These were the big political players in the previous civilian administration of 1979 to 1983 whose properties General Buhari had seized. He returned all their properties to them and they became his friends.
I was ’distantly’ close to one of the beneficiaries of this ”benevolence” by IBB. I knew the man owned two giant mansions in the state capital I lived in. He also owned the then best hotel in the city. Within a week after he got back these three confiscated properties back, he sold them off. He had the fear that a new government could just move in and reverse the IBB order to return the properties to the thieves.

Now you should have an idea where my long gist is taking us.

In mid 1970s Obasanjo was the Head of State. I was a young Civil Engineer in the employment of one of the then popular Consulting firms in Nigeria. One day under the headship of a Chief Engineer, three of us visited Ota. Our firm had won the contract to design the Internal Road and Storm Water drainage of a large hectrage of a Federal Government land proposed for a farm. The farm was to be Ota out station of Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria CRIN. We did our job. I handled the Storm Water drainage while my colleague Fawehinmi handled the Internal Roads. It took over 15 years after to know that what we did was Ota Farms for Obasanjo in the name of the Federal Government! A couple of years ago I read that up till about 5 years ago the same Federal Government was still saddled with the responsibility of maintaining that farm and paying the workers!!

About half a year ago, Obasanjo decided to fight Buhari the No-nonsense president of Nigeria. He would not live to see Buhari serve a second term. Some of the latent problems he had with Buhari were...
**Buhari refusal to make Obasanjo’s nominees (Oby, Oyinlola, Okonjo-Iweala etc) ministers.
**Buhari refusal to engage Obasanjo’s his recommended contractor to complete then Mabilla Dam project.
**Buhari stopped the maintenance of Ota Farm. In other words Obasanjo is aware that Buhari knows the full history of Ota Farms.
Obasanjo did his very best to stop Buhari but failed. Buhari is back as president. Buhari has told us that he would be more vicious in recovering stolen government properties.

**Is the purpose of this gist now clear to you?

**Is the reason why Obasanjo now wants to quickly sell the Ota Farms clear to you?

**Can't you guess that Obasanjo’s Presidential Library may soon go up for sale too?

**Do you now know why, if you were contemplating buying the large farm for even N1000, you better keep your money?

I DON TALK MY OWN O
