Ms. Funmi Olumade; the organizer and the leader of  the rally that protested against the on-going Xenophobia  in South Africa at the South Africa’s Consulate in Toronto last week, responded to the email sent to her by the Consulate consequent upon the phone call she made to the South African Consulate prior to the protest as published by OASES NEWS. 

Funmi Olumade; A socialite and event organizer  in Toronto popularly known as Iya Meto of Toronto acknowledged the receipt of the  email  and was happy for the full explanations given by the South African Consulate in Toronto evidencing the fact that the relationship between Nigeria and South Africa remains intact regardless of the challenges both countries are going through.

Ms.  Olumade in an interview with  OASES NEWS in her no-nonsense way of approach; frank but polite  told our reporter that  Nigeria is not a country that should be disrespected in any manner.  According to Funmi  “Nigeria is one of the most populous countries not only in Africa, but in the world and also rich in human and material resources, why should South Africans be maltreating Nigerians?  Agreed Nigeria may be experiencing challenges, but Nigeria must be respected as a country and issues should be handled diplomatically”.   Ms Funmi Olumade advised all Nigerians in diaspora to be good ambassadors of Nigeria  and to desist from negative influences in order to accord Nigeria more respects it deserves.    “Nigeria is a giant elephant, no one can beat Nigeria and one day Nigeria will overcome all challenges”.

Funmi, meanwhile, said  as an Event Organizer and  APC Women’s Leader in Toronto, she is bracing for  productive and inevitable  seminars addressing social ills in the society and to promote Nigeria’s corporate image,  Funmi a Graduate of Sociology concluded.
