According to the official Twitter account of the Defence Headquarters, 234 more people were freed.

The  hostages are said to be currently undergoing a screening process for their identities to be determined.

According to Premium Times’s update, Chris Olukolade, the defence spokesman, confirmed the development:

“This set in addition to the previous individuals earlier rescued during the ongoing operation in the area.”

He added that the military assault on the forest continues from various fronts with the aim of rescuing hostages and destroying all terrorists’ camps and facilities in the forest.
