Lekki Massacre: out of 22 missing persons, 9 still missing, 3 found alive

Out of a list of 22 missing persons sourced on Twitter, three others found alive

One of the youths who went missing after the shooting at the Lekki Toll Plaza on Tuesday has been found dead.

His name is Folorunsho Olabisi.

His body was found by his relatives at the mortuary of St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos with three bullet wounds.

Folorunsho will be buried on Sunday, 25th October 2020 at the Ikoyi Cemetery at a strictly family ceremony.

Soon after the incident at the Lekki Toll Plaza on Tuesday, several tweets went out from friends and relatives announcing the disappearance of their loved ones.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was only able to confirm one death which he said was a result of trauma from a blunt object.

Folorunsho’s death indicates that live ammunition were indeed fired at protesters at the Lekki Toll Plaza on Tuesday night.

At the last count, Lagos Metropolitan was able to gather 22 Twitter announcements and was able to contact the relatives of nine missing persons through the contact details provided to establish the current situation.

From our enquiries, apart from the confirmation of Folorunsho’s death, three of the youths have been found alive.

They are Ibrahim Yenusa and Stanley Divine.

Relatives of Benedict Ubong say they received a call from Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, that he was in police custody and they should come forward with money to bail him. We have yet to confirm he has been released.
