To avert unbridled looting of the public treasury, it has been suggested that immunity clause should be removed from the constitution.

Dr. Amos Dele Dada, a Nigerian-Canadian pastor, said this at an interaction with THISDAY in Toronto while explaining the essence of his book titled: 'To the Rescue'.

Dada, a Pastor at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Bethel Toronto, Canada, stated that until the issue of corruption is tackled in Nigeria, there would not be any progress or development.

‘’Nigeria is in a sorry state.  Corruption is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of the Nigerian society.  It is not a legacy that should be passed on to the coming generation.  It is very imperative for our youth to be aware of the dangers in this monster before it is too late’’, he said.

He added that the book was written to the younger generation so that "they will not continue in the  culture of corruption saying in another 35 years to come, the youth of today will be ruling Nigeria, hence the need to let them know the consequence of involving in it’’.

When asked about how the book would have an impact in the Canadian society where he currently resides, he said: ‘The proverbs say that “charity begins at home”, you know we have a lot of Nigerians in diaspora. In Toronto alone, we have over five thousand Nigerians that is just a drop in the ocean compared to Nigerians in America’’.

‘’The book, To the Rescue (Say No to Corruption)  is written as a novel so that it could be used in our institutions of learning as a literature book, Elementary to high schools and in tertiary institutions particularly in Christian schools.

"Instead of reading books like Julius Caesar let them read what is relevant to their generation educationally, morally and culturally’, he added.

He urged the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that those found guilty of any form of stealing are punished in accordance with the law. He noted that there is an urgent need for people to be aware of the dire consequence of public stealing, suggesting that such should be inculcated into nation’s curriculum.
