Commissioner flees as court remands two directors over N1.7 million loan

Taking a loan from work place isn't a bad idea, not paying it back on due date is the issue. This is what has befallen the Adamawa state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Farouk who took a loan of #1 Million naira from the Civil servants Compulsory contribution pool at the office of Secretary to state government.

After failing to pay back by December 2020 along with the 20% interest incurred, he was arraigned before the Area court in the state on charges including Criminal Conspiracy, Breach of trust alongside two persons (both Directors) who stood as guarantors for the Commissioner.

After being arraigned, he didn't deny the taking the loan nor defaulting in payment, but simply pleaded to be granted bail which the Judge tightly granted at sum of #1 Million naira for the three defendant.

On hearing this pronouncement by the Judge, the Commissioner took to his heels and fled in his car which was parked outside of the court, which led to the judge ruling for the remaining two defendants to be remanded in jail and adjourning the matter to 12th January.
