The Supreme Court, Nigeria’s apex court, Thursday, ordered the Federal Government and the National Assembly to maintain status quo in a suit filed by Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, on the constitution amendment exercise carried out by the National Assembly.
The Federal Government had dragged the lawmakers before the Supreme Court, after President Jonathan vetoed the amendments carried out by both chambers of the National Assembly, citing irregularities in the process that led to the amendments.
The President also queried the rationale behind the whittling down of the powers vested in the executive and allegedly transferred to the legislature.
