TESTIMONY OF COMPLAINANT

My name is Loveth Uloko, wife of late Abraham Uloko and a teacher by profession. I live in Mararaba. On 14th August 2018, at about 7.30pm, I was at home and my husband came in injured.

He told me while on transit in Mararaba, a Toyota corolla double crossed him.

He didn’t know who they were so he put his car on reverse, but they came after him and were dragging the car key with him. In the process, he came out of the car and ran away.

They started shouting “barawo” at him, and some hoodlums mobbed him but someone came to rescue him from them. That was how he was able to get home, leaving his car there.

The next day he went to Garki hospital for treatment. Later Sgt. Farouk and some other officers came looking for my husband and I told them he has gone to the hospital. They mounted surveillance on my area and returned by 8pm to my house.

They arrested my husband and said he was needed at Abacha police station and I went with them. At the police station, my husband told them he had N50,000 in his car when they took it from him, but they said they didn’t see any money in the car.

The next day he was transferred to Abattoir. While we were there, Jackson Oliman, asked my husband if he knew why he was arrested and my husband said no. He told my husband that an old Baba reported a case of a transaction totally N13 million.

My husband said he knew nothing about such deal. They said I should go home and return the next day to discuss bail conditions.

The next day, 16th August, they called me to bring food for my husband. So I went with food and medication for my husband.

I went there with someone and I found my husband on the pavement unconscious, and a fresh wound on his leg. We took him to Garki hospital.I meet him in good condition, he ate and we discussed then I left. Later, Jackson called me and asked if I have seen my husband that day and I told him yes. Later in the afternoon Jackson called my again that I should come and take my husband to the hospital because he was in a bad condition.

The doctor examined him and later said my husband was bleeding in the brain and he needed to undergo surgery which will cost a total of about N900,000. The doctor placed him on oxygen.

I informed his family and they came to the hospital. We requested a latter to transfer him to Gwagwalada hospital.

On our way to Gwagwalada, he passed on.

The Complainant told the Panel that between the day her husband was first attacked on the road, and the day she took food to him was just one day and till now she hasn’t seen the said “Old Baba” who they claimed reported him.

She also said after the mob attack him, he went to the hospital for treatment and the records are there at the hospital. Her husband’s car was released to her from Abacha Police Station. She said Sgt. Farouk told her that they drove the car to their station.

She said the family paid for an autopsy to be conducted at Garki hospital and the result of the autopsy, which is attached to her petition, was given to them at the hospital

She further told the Panel, during cross examination, that she saw SUPOL Jackson for the first time on the first night she went to Abachi Police station, when Michael Agbo called Jackson and told him they have arrested her husband.

She said when she went to Abacha police station, Michael Agbo told her they were the ones that double crossed her husband on the road and also shouted “barawo” at him.

Counsel to Police has applied for adjournment to enable him open his defense and bring the respondents before the Panel

The case has been adjourned to 16th March, 2021 for opening of defense.
