Viral Video: Fagboyegun Family Breaks Silence, Says Pelumi Is Not Their Member But Just Wants To Malign Their Sister, Akeredolu CJ

The family of late Canon Johnson Olajide Fagboyegun has said that Olupelumi Fagboyegun is not their member.

This is contained in a statement titled: “Re- the self styled Oluwapelumi Fagboyegun” made available to TheNigeriaLawyer signed by Tunji Fagboyegun on behalf of the family

They said Pelumi earlier filed a case seeking the body of late Fagboyegun to be exhumed for DNA to be carried out but has on his own abandoned the case

The statement reads in part, “The family of late Canon Johnson Olajide Fagboyegun who died on 30th July 2008 wish to state categorically that he is not a member of the family. In 2010, he filed a lawsuit Suit No AK/72/2010 against our mother and the eldest Male member of the family seeking for declaration that he is a son of our deceased father among other reliefs. He wanted his remains exhumed for the purpose of a DNA. He abandoned the case.”

The family explained that Pelumi’s action is aimed at maligning their sister, Hon. Justice Olanrewaju Akeredolu Nee Fagboyegun, the Chief Judge of Ondo State.

According to them, Pelumi is not in detention either in prison or police station

“After the demise of our mother he broke into the Owo premises and our cousin who is on ground complained to the police. He is neither in detention at the police station and the prison to the best of our knowledge. This is a clear evidence of an attempt to malign our sister the Chief Judge and the family.” the statement further reads

Recall that Pelumi, who claimed to be a half-brother of the state Chief Judge, Justice Akeredolu, in a viral video, accused the state CJ of remanding him without trial for three years, for going into his father’s house in Akure, the state capital.

But the judge said she had no hand in the detention of her purported half-brother, saying the matter was the handiwork of some persons who wanted to use Pelumi against her family. The state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, had ordered the state attorney-general to investigate the matter.

In a report of the investigation carried out by the former state Commissioner for Justice, Mr Charles Titiloye, a copy of which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer on Thursday evening, it was directed that the case should be discontinued.
