An eight-year-old boy was discovered hiding inside a suitcase by customs officials at the Morocco Spain border.
The boy was found hidden inside a hard wheel-along suitcase by security officials through the aide of an X-ray machine.
The luggage owner, who was a 19-year-old girl aroused the suspicion of the police through her nervous look while going through security check.
It was gathered that the police thought the lady was trying to smuggle drugs, unknowingly to them that the eight year old Sub Saharan boy was trying to get into Cueta, Spain.
It was said that immediately the boy was discovered, he poked out his head and said in French, “Hello, my name is Abou.”
Reacting to the incident, a member of the Civil Guard said: “This could have had a tragic end.”
he police disclosed that the boy’s father, who hails from Ivory Coast has been arrested, and that investigation into the incident continues.
The boy was taken into custody and treated by the Red Cross.
Just recently, over 900 people drowned while attempting to illegally gain entrance to Spain. The tragedy was described as one of the worst in sea travel.
