Potiskum Bomb Update: Suicide Bomber Entered School Premises Armed with AK-47

A suspected suicide bomber on Friday attacked the College of Administrative and Business Studies in Potiskum, Yobe, Mr Toyin Gbadegesin, Police Public Relations officer, Yobe Police Command says.

According to him, the suspect entered the schools with explosives and an AK47 rifle but the explosives wrapped around him detonated, instantly killing him and injuring 10 others.

"In an attempt to carry out the nefarious activity, the bomb exploded and, as at now, only the suspected bomber died while others who sustained various degree of injuries were receiving treatment at General Hospital Potiskum."   

He said the police were searching the entire area for accomplices and to ensure total safety of the environment.

Toyin appealed to the residents to be vigilant, as there was likelihood of the elements trying to hide in crowded places in order to carry out their nefarious activities.

"The communities should volunteer useful information to security operatives for proactive measures to be taken and forestall the attacks.''

NAN reports that the college is adjacent to the secondary school attacked early this year during an assembly session, during which scores of students were killed.
