If he spent just 86 days in office, how did this ex-Acting Governor allegedly spend N22bn?

Embattled and impeached, former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako left his office in shame and the people of the state hoped for a better successor.

The man who came and served as acting governor for a few months was Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, the Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly.

Finitri, who assumed office in July 2014 spent only 86 days before he was later removed by a Federal High Court.

Now almost a year later, a group, Adamawa Progressive Movement has called for the probe of N22bn expenditure incurred by the 86-day-old administration.

The group’s convener, Mr Sunday Wugira, at a press conference in Yola explained that the probe became necessary as some of the projects allegedly executed by the Fintiri administration were sited in areas controlled by insurgents.

He said the Fintiri administration sited projects in some villages of Madagali and Michika Local Government Areas, which were no go areas.

“There is also contract for the Faculty of Law in Adamawa State University, Mubi, that needs to be verified,” Wugira said.

Wugira observed that lack of proper accountability has been the bane of development in the state, adding that APM had taken it upon itself to henceforth seek probity and accountability from government in the state.

“Our quest to beam our search light on the administration of Fintiri follows the serious questions of financial sleaze which his 86 days administration left unanswered.

“In the same vein, we shall also beam our searchlight on the activities of the current administration and will make our findings known very soon.”
