FG Demolishes 12 Churches In Lagos

The Federal Government has pulled down 12 churches in Lagos State for reportedly being built on Illegal plots of land.

The Deputy Director, Social Security, and Intergovernmental Relations, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Lagos State, Pastor Barnabas Otoibhi, confirmed the demolition to "The Punch" on Monday.

He said the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) officials demolished the churches, a market, and a car mart located on 2nd Avenue in Festac on Sunday.

Military Aircraft Kill Over 1,000 Cows

Two military aircraft have killed over 1,000 cows in multiple attacks on Fulani settlements in Keana and Doma local government areas of Nasarawa State.

Fulani leaders and some of the victims told Daily Trust that the attacks were launched between Thursday, June 10 and Sunday, June 13.

Some young Fulani herders tending the cattle sustained injuries while over 500 cows that strayed into neighbouring Benue State have not been recovered yet, victims and witnesses said.

 

Ngige Speaks About Marginalization

Nigeria’s Minister for Labour, Chris Ngige has backed those calling for the South East to produce Nigeria’s next president.

Ngige, who appeared on Channels Television on Monday, said that the perceived feelings of marginalization in the Southeast will be largely addressed if the region produces President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

The minister said that it is sad there is no provision in the 1999 constitution stating that the next election is to be zoned to the south.

 

"South-East Governors To Meet With Youths On Saturday" - Umahi

The Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Dave Umahi, has said the forum would meet with youths of the region on Saturday.

Speaking on Channels TV, Umahi stated that leaders of the region were opposed to secessionist agitations in the part of the country.

While stating that leaders were ready to know the grievances of the youths, the governor claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari and his ministers might not be aware of all cases of marginalisation of the Igbo people.

 

Aisha Sends Message To Buhari

Nigeria's First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has told President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime to hire hundreds of Nigerians into the country’s security forces to boost the ongoing fight against insecurity.

Mrs Buhari also urged military and police chiefs’ wives to support their spouses to accomplish their duties to the nation.

She said this while receiving the spouses of service chiefs on a familiarisation visit to her at the State House, Abuja.
