Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Tuesday witnessed a public protest when the Association of Resident Doctors, ARD at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo marched peacefully through some streets in Osogbo to the Osun State House of Assembly, with placards to condemn the refusal of the state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola to prioritize payment of workers' salary including doctors for six months. The ARD speaking through its president, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi, said, they are hungry and cannot continue to work without pay. Ajayi stated that the Doctors have continued to discharge their duties despite being owed for six months.
The Nigeria Medical Association in the state had in a letter dated May 1, accused the governor of deliberately punishing doctors by refusing to pay their salaries despite having received allocation up to March, 2015.
