A baby suffered severe abuse while he was left in the care of 2 women who were supposed to love and protect him.
Police were called to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma after doctors determined that a young child had been severely abused.
The 11-month-old baby boy was badly burned on the stomach, private parts, and legs. The leg was so badly burned that it had to be amputated.
Doctors said that the boy’s front teeth had been knocked out, he had bruises on his head and neck, and he was bleeding in the brain.
The boy’s mother had left him in the care of his grandmother and godmother while she was caring for another child who was sick at the time.
When police questioned the suspects, they claimed that 2 weeks prior to bringing him to the hospital, the 11-month-old burned himself by pulling a hot tea kettle, causing the boiling water to spill on him.
The baby suffered terribly as the woman denied him medical care for 2 weeks, police said.
Doctors confirmed that if the baby had been brought in immediately after the incident, his leg would have been saved.
Police arrested the baby’s grandmother, Cordette Cole, and his godmother, Breanna Cole.
Cordette and Breanna were charged with child abuse and child neglect. They are being held on $1 million bond each.
