CONSPIRACY TO EXTERMINATE ME - EUGENE ODO CRIES OUT

There are fears that the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Eugene Odo may soon be detained by the Police in the State.

This is also as Odo raised the alarm of an alleged grand conspiracy by the police and the State Governor to poison him in the police cell as soon as his arrest was perfected.

DAILY POST gathered that the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has invited the Speaker for questioning on matters relating to impeachment charges preferred against the state Governor, Sullivan Chime.

Odo told journalists on Thursday that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, who invited him via telephone call told him that he was invited to explain one of the allegations in the impeachment notice accusing Governor Chime of forging the 2012 supplementary budget.

Odo wondered why the police is interfering in the house legislative mandate even when the house has obtained a court injunction against police obstruction of the proceedings of the house.

The speaker while addressing newsmen said he does not intend to honour the police invitation, alleging that both the police and Governor Chime have connived to “detain and poison him” in police cell.

He urged the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to intervene in the state crisis and call CP Adamu Mohammed to order.

Odoh’s words: “The commissioner of police is yet to obey the court order instead he has invited me on account of petition allegedly written by the Governor.

“I want to state categorically clear that the issue of impeachment is a legislative matter and ought not to be taken over by the police. My personal life and my family is now in the hands of the Governor and the police. I suspect we may be detained and poisoned in Enugu state

police command.

“We expect response to the impeachment notice from whom it was served and not for police to come and take over the functions of the house of assembly.

“Its an abuse of court process, the police is descending on the arena of conflict between the executive and the legislature and we urge the police to restrict themselves to the very function they are assigned to and not to take over the job of the house”.

Odoh disclosed that he remains the authentic speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly that attended the just concluded conference speakers of state houses of assembly in Abuja, where the situation in Enugu state was condemned by a resolution of the body.

He described Hon. Chinedu Nwamba as “Governor’s Speaker” who now leaves in Enugu State government house.
