The security personnel attached to a former Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, shot and killed three persons in Umuodu, Ochuche in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State on Friday.
Oduah was recently elected to the senate and would be sworn-in in June alongside the other 108 senators-elect.
Apart from the three dead, there are several others who sustained injuries.
Details of the incident are still sketchy even though the police command in the state have confirmed it.
The command however said no life was lost while only two people were wounded in the attack. Eyewitness accounts disputes the claims of the police.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Uche Ezeh, a disclosed that the culprit had been arrested.
He was quick to add that the attack was carried out by a member of a vigilante group attached to Oduah’s security, and not a policeman as widely reported.
The two persons injured in the attack – Chuka Okechukwu and Chukwuebuka, according to Ezeh have been taken to Ogbaru general hospital for treatment.
He said the police acted on information received from the community, adding that investigations were still ongoing to unravel what caused the fracas.
